Cellular Construction for Year-Round Comfort
The honeycomb construction of Applause shades creates pockets of trapped air between the room and the window.
This added layer of insulation helps reduce heat transfer through the glass—an especially useful benefit during Wisconsin winters as well as warmer summer weather.
Applause is available in cellular configurations including a ¾-inch pleat and insulating double-cell construction, allowing the shade to provide strong energy-efficiency performance while maintaining a clean, understated appearance.
Choose the Right Amount of Light

Light-filtering fabrics soften incoming daylight while keeping the space comfortable and bright. Room-darkening fabrics substantially reduce incoming light and provide greater privacy for bedrooms, media spaces and other rooms where stronger light control is preferred.
The right fabric depends on the room, window orientation and how you use the space.
Top-Down/Bottom-Up Privacy
Select Applause shades are available with Top-Down or Top-Down/Bottom-Up configurations.
Rather than only raising the shade from the bottom, Top-Down/Bottom-Up allows you to uncover the upper portion of the window while keeping the lower portion covered.
This makes it possible to bring daylight into the room while maintaining privacy at eye level—an especially useful option for bedrooms, bathrooms and street-facing windows.
Two Fabrics in One with Duolite®
For rooms where your lighting needs change throughout the day, Applause can also be configured with Hunter Douglas Duolite®.
Duolite combines two different fabrics within one cellular shade, allowing you to move between softer filtered daylight and greater room darkening.
During the day, use the light-filtering portion to bring natural light into the room. When more privacy or darkness is needed, transition to the room-darkening fabric.
This provides greater flexibility without requiring two separate window treatments.
Cellular Shades for Sliding Doors
Applause isn't limited to standard windows.
For sliding glass doors and other wide openings, select Applause shades are available with the Hunter Douglas Vertiglide™ system.
Instead of moving up and down, Vertiglide cellular fabric travels horizontally across the opening. When opened, the shade stacks neatly at the side, making it a practical option for patio doors while maintaining the same cellular appearance used on nearby windows.
Vertiglide for Applause is a cordless, manually operated system.
Skylights and Specialty Windows
The flexibility of cellular construction also makes Applause an option for many windows that are difficult to cover with conventional shades.
Select configurations can accommodate specialty applications such as arches, angled windows and other unusual shapes.
For skylights, Hunter Douglas SkyLift™ allows Applause cellular shades to cover overhead windows and can be operated manually with a crank or telescoping pole or with compatible PowerView® Automation.
This makes it possible to maintain a more consistent window-treatment style throughout the home, even when the windows themselves are very different.
Motorized Applause Shades
Compatible Applause Cellular Shades are available with Hunter Douglas PowerView® Automation.
PowerView allows shades to be controlled with a remote, the PowerView app or compatible smart-home systems. Individual shades or groups of shades can also be scheduled to move automatically throughout the day.
Motorization is especially useful for hard-to-reach windows, larger shades and rooms with multiple window treatments.
PowerView is available with several Applause configurations, including standard, Top-Down and Top-Down/Bottom-Up shades and select Duolite and specialty-shape applications.
