Beautiful Natural Light with Flexible Privacy
Hunter Douglas Silhouette® Sheer Shades are designed to soften natural light while giving you precise control over privacy and your view outside.
Soft, S-shaped fabric vanes appear to float between two sheer panels. With the vanes open, daylight filters gently into the room while the sheers soften glare and provide daytime privacy. Tilt the vanes as light conditions change, close them for greater privacy, or raise the entire shade when you want a completely open window.
The result is a window treatment that combines the adjustable light control of a blind with the softness and finished appearance of fabric.
Designed Around Natural Light
Silhouette shades are particularly well suited for rooms where you want to enjoy daylight without leaving the window completely uncovered.
The sheer panels diffuse incoming sunlight, while the adjustable fabric vanes let you control how much direct light enters the room. Instead of simply opening or closing a shade, you can make smaller adjustments throughout the day as the position of the sun changes.
Hunter Douglas also designs Silhouette shades to help filter damaging UV rays, providing additional protection for furniture, flooring, artwork and other interior finishes.
Privacy Without Losing the View
Silhouette shades provide a distinctive combination of view-through and daytime privacy.
With the vanes open, the sheer fabric helps obscure the view into your home while still allowing you to see outside. When additional privacy is needed, the vanes can be tilted toward the closed position.
For an even clearer view outdoors, select fabrics are available with Hunter Douglas ClearView® sheers. ClearView uses specially designed sheer fabrics to improve view-through while continuing to filter sunlight and UV exposure.
Because sheer treatments behave differently after dark when interior lights are on, greater nighttime privacy generally comes from closing the vanes or choosing a configuration with an additional room-darkening shade.
Choose the Right Vane Size
Silhouette Sheer Shades are available with 2-inch, 3-inch and 4-inch vanes, allowing the proportions of the treatment to complement different window sizes and room designs.
Smaller vanes can create a more detailed horizontal appearance, while larger vanes create broader lines and can provide greater view-through when open. Hunter Douglas notes that larger vane sizes generally provide a more open view to the outdoors.
With more than 150 fabric and color choices available across the Silhouette collection, the treatment can range from understated neutrals to more noticeable textures and tones.
Silhouette Halo™ for Even Greater Light Control
Silhouette Halo™ takes the Silhouette design a step further by allowing the fabric vanes to rotate upward, downward or anywhere in between.
This added range of movement makes it possible to change the direction of incoming daylight throughout the day rather than simply opening or closing the vanes.
For rooms with changing sun exposure, Halo can provide an additional level of control over glare, daylight and privacy while maintaining the soft appearance of Silhouette sheers.
Add Room-Darkening Capability
For spaces that need both beautiful filtered daylight and substantially greater darkness, select Silhouette configurations are available with Duolite® or A Deux™.
These options combine a Silhouette sheer shading with a room-darkening roller shade, giving you more flexibility than the sheer treatment alone. You can enjoy diffused daylight and a view during the day, then use the room-darkening portion when greater privacy or light reduction is needed.
These configurations can be particularly useful in bedrooms, media spaces and other rooms where lighting needs change significantly from day to night.
Motorized Silhouette Shades
Silhouette Sheer Shades are available with Hunter Douglas PowerView® Automation.
PowerView allows compatible shades to be controlled with a remote, the PowerView app or compatible smart-home systems. Shades can also be grouped and scheduled to move automatically throughout the day.
Motorization is especially useful with Silhouette because both shade position and vane angle affect the amount and direction of light. Automated operation can make it easier to adjust several windows together as daylight changes.
Manual and wand-operated systems are also available on compatible configurations, including LiteRise®, EasyRise™ and SoftTouch® options.
Coordinated Window Treatments Throughout the Room
Silhouette shades are designed for horizontal windows, but Hunter Douglas also offers coordinating vertical sheer treatments for larger openings and patio doors.
