Banded shades combine the clean appearance of a roller shade with the light control of a sheer window treatment. Alternating bands of sheer and solid fabric overlap as the shade moves, allowing you to change the amount of daylight, privacy and view through the window.
With the bands aligned to reveal the sheer sections, natural light filters into the room and maintains a greater view outside. Shift the fabric slightly and the solid bands overlap for increased privacy and reduced light. When you want the window completely open, the entire shade can be raised.

One of the biggest advantages of a banded shade is the ability to make small adjustments throughout the day.
Instead of simply choosing between an open or closed shade, the alternating fabric bands can be positioned to create different levels of light and privacy. Open the bands to bring in more daylight and maintain a view, partially overlap them to soften incoming light, or align the solid portions for greater privacy.
This flexibility makes banded shades particularly well suited for living rooms, dining rooms, home offices and other spaces where light conditions change throughout the day.

Banded shades have distinctive horizontal lines that create a clean and structured appearance at the window.

Hunter Douglas Designer Banded Shades combine alternating sheer and solid fabric bands in a single treatment, allowing the layers to move past one another for adjustable light and privacy.
The collection includes a variety of colors, textures and geometric designs, with different band proportions and fabric opacities available. Select fabrics are also available with ClearView® sheers, designed to provide enhanced view-through when the shade is in its open position.
A fabric-covered headrail completes the treatment for a coordinated, finished appearance.
Alta Banded Shades
Alta Banded Shades offer another highly customizable approach to the layered-shade design.
Choose from a range of neutral and colored fabrics, different opacities and small or large band proportions. Available design details include coordinated headrail treatments, fabric-wrapped or contrasting bottom rails and configurations designed for wider windows.
For certain applications, two independently operated shades can also share a single headrail, creating a cleaner appearance across larger window openings.
Motorized Banded Shades
Banded shades are especially well suited for motorization because small changes in shade position can noticeably change the amount of light and privacy in the room.
Compatible Hunter Douglas Designer Banded Shades can be equipped with PowerView® Automation, allowing shades to be controlled with a remote, mobile device or compatible smart-home system. Automated schedules can also adjust shades throughout the day.
Alta offers motorized banded shades through BLISS® Automation and Somfy® systems, along with PowerWand™ operation on compatible configurations.
